The garden of his residence was packed to capacity when Ambassador Dr. Gordon Kricke hosted an open-air concert with “vocaldente” from Hanover/Germany on 16 March 2017. About 200 guests enjoyed the two hour performance of Tobek and Jakob (tenors), Tobias (bass), Alex (baritone), and Benjamin (countertenor) who entertained the crowd with a passionate choreography and music in its most authentic way: purely choral.
“vocaldente” took the audience on a joyride through time and genres with their program “Life is a highway”, arranging compositions of 100 years from Pop, Charleston, Rock´n´Roll, Disco, New Metal, and Rap in both German and English language. From Kenny Loggins´ “Footloose” to ABBA´s “Mamma Mia”, from George Michael´s “Faith” to the Comedian Harmonists´ “Kannst du pfeifen, Johanna?” (Can you whistle, Johanna?) – they did it all and they did it outstandingly!
Established 13 years ago and since then winner of several national and international a cappella competitions in Asia, Europe, and the USA, the quintet performs in over 100 concerts and appearances every year and is considered Germany´s most successful a cappella export. It was their first concert in the Philippines.
An impromptu gig of renowned Filipino a cappella group “Pinopela” and the performance of DJ Mulan topped off an enchanting evening which invited the guests to chill the night away under the stars of Makati City.
Excellent catering services provided by the German Club made sure that the evening was not only a feast for the ears, but also a delight for the taste-buds – a more than memorable experience for all the senses.
